Commander Danny died when his M-2 police helicopter crashed in Dr. Mohammad Hatta Forest Garden while transporting several police officials to inspect a forest fire in South Solak area. About 10 minutes from Tabing Airport, the helicopter lost contact with the flight control tower and crashed in rugged terrain. Five other non-crewmembers were killed in the crash.
