Greetings. We are starting a new UAS program at the Union City (CA) Police Department. All of our pilots are getting their 107 certifications, and we know the FAA requirements for maintaining the certification. However, from a liability point of view, I am concerned that we should have some sort of skills-based training program/certification in place before our pilots are allowed to fly "real world" missions. If your agency has any kind of practical skills assessment or required hours of flight time, I would like to hear the details. Even if you do not have any such requirement, I would like to hear from you and hear your reasoning for not having some kind of minimal skills test. You can reply here, or contact me directly at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Thanks!
